Story 06Artisan Zero™

The best anti-reflective treatment does its job without asking to be noticed. Artisan Zero™ was built around that idea: a nearly clear appearance paired with the premium performance patients expect from their everyday eyewear.
Artisan Zero™ combines exceptionally low visible residual color with premium scratch resistance, easy cleaning, oil and water repellency, anti-static performance, and backside UV protection. It keeps the focus where it belongs—on the patient's eyes, not the reflection on the lens.
A complete premium treatment
- Near-clear appearance: minimal visible reflectance for a clean, natural look.
- Everyday durability: premium scratch resistance for the realities of daily wear.
- Easier care: oil and water repellency, anti-static performance, and simple cleaning.
- Backside UV protection: another layer of thoughtful performance built into the treatment.
Artisan Zero™ is produced on site at Artisan's production and coating center in Portland and is available exclusively through Pacific Artisan Labs, Peak Artisan Labs, and Pike Artisan Labs. Nationwide ordering begins October 12.
For your practice
Pricing is available in your customer portal. Your Artisan team can also help position Artisan Zero™ within your premium AR recommendations.
"The full premium AR stack. Almost invisible."
DS Max: See More. Naturally.

DS Max is the newest Diamond-tier progressive in the Artisan Design Series. It is a back-surface free-form design built to deliver an expansive, balanced, and highly personalized visual experience.
Instead of relying on a single design technology, DS Max considers how the eyes work together, how the eyewear sits on the patient, how the wearer moves through the corridor, and how visual demands change from distance through near.
What makes DS Max different
- Expansive vision: visual-field optimization manages unwanted astigmatism to preserve more useful areas across distance, intermediate, and near.
- Balanced for both eyes: binocular optimization coordinates performance across both lenses for smoother lateral viewing.
- Personalized to the wearer: position-of-wear optimization accounts for the prescription, frame, and how the eyewear actually sits.
- A corridor built around movement: ergonomic corridor optimization follows natural eye movement and viewing behavior.
- Ready for modern viewing: digital-viewing optimization supports frequent transitions among distance, intermediate, near, and handheld devices.
- Near vision that adapts: the near-zone design changes with addition power to help preserve a consistently useful reading area.
- Variable inset: near alignment is calculated for the individual wearer's visual requirements.

DS Max launches October 12 in a broad range of lens materials, treatments, and prescription ranges. Your Artisan lab can confirm availability for a specific patient and help your team introduce the design with confidence.
"Diamond performance. Multiple technologies. One sophisticated design."
Jess Dinnebeck

This issue takes us to Indianapolis, where Jess Dinnebeck serves as lab manager of Pike Artisan Labs. Jess made the move to Indianapolis from Portland, bringing firsthand experience from one Artisan community into another.
Running a lab means keeping people, production, quality, and service moving in the same direction. It is an important responsibility—and one that connects directly to the practices and patients counting on Pike every day.
Black, gold, and a little distance from home
Jess is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, which gives him plenty to talk about in Colts country. The city may have changed, but the team did not.
We are looking forward to sharing more of Jess's story—his path through the optical industry, what he enjoys most about leading Pike, and more of the person behind the role. For now, we simply want to say how much we appreciate having him at Pike Artisan Labs and within Artisan Lab Network.
"Jess, thank you for leading Pike Artisan Labs and for making Indianapolis home. We are glad you are part of the Artisan family."
A Clearer Artisan Design Series
As DS Max joins the Artisan Design Series, we are simplifying the portfolio and retiring ten older designs. This is a focused transition—not a step away from choice. It gives practices a clearer group of current designs, stronger product support, and a more direct path to the best alternative for each patient.

These six designs remain the center of our private-label portfolio. Together they give independent practices clear choices across everyday progressive, occupational, anti-fatigue, and digital round-segment needs—without the added costs tied to national marketing, rebate programs, and discounting.
Artisan CFB remains available
CFB is not being retired. It remains part of the Artisan offering, alongside the six core designs above and the new DS Max launch.
Practices should begin removing the retiring designs from ordering systems, product menus, saved favorites, and templates. We will share the effective date, recommended alternatives, and final ordering guidance before the availability change takes effect.
"A more focused portfolio makes it easier to choose the right design and support it well."
Practice What You Preach

What do you say when a patient tells you they want to take their prescription and run?
You probably explain that an independent practice offers something a national chain cannot easily duplicate: time, accountability, product choice, accurate measurements, thoughtful fitting, and a real person who will still be there if something does not feel right.
That is a strong case for independent eye care. It is also a good reason to look closely at the laboratory behind the lenses carrying your practice's name.
Independence should not stop at the lab order
When an independent practice sends its work to a large corporate laboratory, it may be giving away some of the same control it asks patients to value: the ability to choose products freely, speak directly with the people doing the work, solve an unusual prescription thoughtfully, and stand behind the finished result.
An independent laboratory is not simply a different place to process a job. It is a partner whose success is tied to the success of independent practices. That shared interest shows up in responsiveness, flexibility, problem-solving, and the willingness to work through the prescription that does not fit neatly into a corporate menu.
Practice what you preach. If your patients deserve the attention and accountability of an independent practice, your practice deserves the same from its lab.
"Let an independent lab help you do what you do best."
A New Website Built to Be Used

The new Artisan website is more than a visual refresh. It was rebuilt to help two very different visitors get where they need to go quickly: a practice discovering Artisan for the first time, and an existing partner who needs an answer, a tool, a report, or a direct connection to the lab.
The home page now makes that choice clear. New visitors can learn how our three-lab network supports independent practices. Existing partners can move directly into Provider Resources or the secure customer portal instead of hunting through a general marketing site.
A searchable library for the whole practice
Provider Resources is the public working library for your team. Search by product, brand, or task, or browse the collection when you need product guides, fitting and layout charts, AR information, training, ordering tools, policies, warranty and remake guidance, shipping information, frame-handling instructions, troubleshooting help, or practice-growth resources.
Technical tools for the questions that slow a job down
The Optical Engineering Center brings practical calculators and references into one workspace. Your team can compare materials, estimate lens thickness and weight, work through blank size and effective diameter, calculate base curves, resolve or compound prism, review vertical imbalance and slab-off, and check frame measurements such as decentration, wrap, pantoscopic tilt, and vertex distance. Results include the assumptions and disclosures needed to use an estimate responsibly.
Your practice. Your information. Your portal.
Public resources answer general questions. The secure customer portal is where authorized team members see information tied to the practice: daily production reports, interactive price guides, programs and promotions, a practice-performance dashboard, Practice Intelligence insights, and order trends and benchmarking. That separation keeps public education easy to reach while protecting account-specific information.
A simple way to use the site
- Start in Provider Resources when you need a guide, policy, product reference, or ordering answer.
- Move to the Optical Engineering Center when the question involves lens math, frame geometry, prism, or expected thickness.
- Sign in to the portal when you need practice-specific pricing, production, performance, programs, or order trends.
This is an investment in your team, your independence, and the partnership we share. Bookmark the site, put Provider Resources where your staff can find it, and make the portal part of the practice's regular operating rhythm—not somewhere you visit only when there is a problem.
