Tokai and Artisan Lab Network

Our partnership with Tokai brings distinctive lens materials and designs to independent eye care practices. Artisan Lab Network helps teams explore when those options may fit a patient's prescription, frame, and visual priorities.

Material choice

What is Tokai 1.76?

1.76 is the refractive index of a Tokai plastic lens material. A higher index can help reduce lens thickness for some prescriptions, but the finished result also depends on the prescription, frame size and shape, fitting, and lens design.

It is not automatically the right choice for every patient. An eye care professional can compare options for the actual prescription and frame before recommending a material.

Partnership background

A partnership built for the entire network

When Artisan Lab Network signed its Tokai agreement, Pacific Artisan Labs was our only laboratory. That is why the original announcement focused on Pacific. Today, the Tokai relationship is an Artisan Lab Network partnership supporting our growing network of independent optical laboratories.

Through ALN, practice teams can explore Tokai's 1.76 material, lens designs, coatings, tints, and training resources with help from the people who support their accounts.
